…with “Greener Grass” directors Dawn Leubbe (L) and Jocelyn DeBoer (R)
Leigh Poindexter is an LA based transplant with southern roots that holds a BFA in Fashion + minor in Graphic Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design. She has a passion for collaboration, quirk, and the stories behind a vision. Her quick thinking, infectious laughter, and hand-made aesthetic are some qualities that are cherished by the directors and creators she works with.
Over the past few years she has worked regularly with the international pop star Sia in film, print, and performance as well as the avant-garde choreographer + director, Ryan Heffington. Last winter she collaborated on and designed a short film for Paul McCartney + Emma Stone released in conjunction with an anti-bullying campaign.
Her most cherished feature, Greener Grass, premiered at Sundance— where The Hollywood Reporter noted her “unsettling yet fabulous production design”. The theatrical release received well-deserved respect, and continued to garnish attention up to awards season when Indiewire named Greener Grass as one of the “20 Great Indie Movies the Oscars Shouldn’t Totally Ignore in 2020” noting that the “wacky and surreal suburban satire is just too damn weird for Oscar season, which is a shame considering the eye-popping production design is worth at least some level of awards attention.”
When Leigh isn’t brainstorming for her next collaboration, you can find her pining after 1990’s classic Japanese sports cars, estate sale shopping for antique piñatas, or making margaritas in her old Spanish home with her husband, dog children + closest friends.
